Breast Cancer Screening
Breast cancer affects a significant number of women each year. It is the second-most-common cancer, and the second-leading cause of cancer death, among women. Most breast cancers are slow-growing, but there are types that are aggressive, which is why early detection is essential. Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy, in which medication is used to destroy rapidly dividing malignant cells, is a common treatment for patients with cancer. Although the goal of chemotherapy is to eliminate only malignant cells, healthy cells, such as those in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract and hair follicles, are also usually affected. Low Anterior Resection
A low anterior resection is a surgical procedure used to treat certain rectal cancers that develop in the upper portion of the rectum near the colon. The ileostomy is performed to allow healing time for the surgical site and its immediate surroundings and is usually reversed in about 8 weeks. ...

PET Scan
Positron emission tomography, also known as a PET scan, is a diagnostic test that captures images of biological functions. The images provide information about cell biochemistry and metabolism that can help diagnose a variety of diseases and other conditions. PET imaging measures energy emitted from a radioactive substance that is ingested prior to the procedure. The injected material, detected through radioactive particles called positrons, interacts with body tissue to produce gamma radiation, which provides information about cell biochemistry and metabolism. ...

Once malignant cells develop in the prostate, they multiply much more quickly than normal cells. Because prostate cancer can metastasize and become life-threatening, prostate cancer screening, designed to detect the disease at its earliest, most treatable stages, is important. ...
